This Yataghan is mid 19 C. from the Balkan region of the Ottoman empire. Good classical blade, 24 inches long marked with maker mark and engraved with Arabic inscription. Walrus grips with very big eared pommel. Silver grip strap set with red stones (Carnelian ?) and gilded silver bolsters. Original scabbard covered with black leather (original cover) with spiral stitching mounted with engraved brass locket and chape. Total length 31 inches. Very good condition. Dark age patina on the ivory with age cracks as common. Small losses to the leather cover of the scabbard.
