Very Good Khayber Sword with Wootz Blade - 11127

This is very good classical example of the famous Khyber sword coming from Afghanistan. Mid to late 19 C. The heavy massive blade is 25 inches long, 2 inches wide with a pronounced T spine. The blade is forged from good wootz (Watered, Damascus) steel. The bolsters and grips straps are steel. The grips are ivory with good age patina, Original scabbard covered with black leather (later) and mounted with original steel mounts. Total length 35 inches. Very good condition. Minor forge flaws on the blade. Like in the classical swords of this type, the blade goes all the way into the scabbard and only the upper part of the handle is exposed. Very impressive sword. |
