Very good Khanjarli Dagger with Ivory Handle - 11117


The Khanjarli, one of the rarest and most sought after dagger in the Indian weaponry. It is characterized by its strongly re-curving blade and wide lunette shaped pommel. This one is a fine early example, probably early 18 C. or earlier, with a 7 ½ inches fullered blade forged from very good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The lunette shaped pommel and grips are Ivory. Fabric covered scabbard with silver mounts (later). Total length 14 inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. Good age patina on the ivory .
