Fine Indo / Arab Jambiya Dagger - 11111


This style of daggers is known as Indo / Arab as it reminds in a way the Arab Jambiya and was probably carried and or traded with wealthy Arabs from central and south India. The blade is wide and thin, 9 inches long 2 ½ inches wide with a pronounced central rib. The blade is forged from fine wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The handle and scabbard mounts are copper with traces of gilding. Original scabbard with original (worn) fabric cover. Interesting to note a small crack In the steel, probably a result of excess etching. To cover and conceal the crack, the owner has added a fine and delicate engraved flower on the steel. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the gilding.
