Very Good Khayber Sword - 10994

This is a classical example of the famous Khyber sword coming from Afghanistan. Mid to late 19 C. The heavy massive blade is 21 inches long, 2 inches wide with a pronounced T spine. The bolsters and grips straps are steel. The grips are ribbed horn with good age patina, Original scabbard covered with black leather (later) and mounted with a finely chased brass locket and chape . Total length 31 inches. Very good condition. Minor shallow pitted spots and forge flaws on the blade. Like in the classical swords of this type, the blade goes all the way into the scabbard and only the upper part of the handle is exposed. Very impressive sword.
