This big size dagger is a version of the Arab Jambiya common to the Hijaz and Asir in the west of the Arabian peninsula. It is characterized by the much longer and narrower blade than the common Jambiya daggers. This one is most probably a special custom made dagger, highly decorated and uses a silver scabbard typical to the western regions of the Ottoman empire (But it is a scabbard made for this blade, not a secondary used scabbard). Massive blade of shallow diamond cross section, 16 ½ inches long. Finely chased silver handle with colored stones (glass ?) and small turquoise stones. Balkan type scabbard also decoprated with turquoise stones. Total length 24 inches. Very good condition.
