This very fine Shamshir sword is shows both Turkish and Syrian strong influence and could come from either origin. The blade is however of Persian origin, classical Shamshir blade, single edge, 34 inches long and forged from very fine high contrast wootz (Watered, Damascus) steel. The handle as well as the scabbard mounts are heavy silver decorated with fine Niello design. Total length 40 ½ inches. Very good plus condition. Part of the silver strip cover of the leather seam is missing.
