Very Good Piso Podang, Sword of the Batak, Sumatra. - 10955

The Podang, sometimes also known as Piso Podang is a sword common to Sumatra and specifically to the Batak People. The influence of the Indian Tulwar sword on its specific hilt shape is evident. This very good example has a single edged fullered and curved blade, 23 inches long with a 7 inches back edge. The Solid brass hilt is of a typical form with a reverse cup shape pommel. Wood scabbard with bone locket. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. |
