Very Fine Wootz Jambiya / Khanjar from Afghanistan - 10951

The exact origin of this Jambiya / Khanjar dagger is questionable, however and in spite of its similarity to the Arabic Sabik dagger, we believe that it is coming from Afghanistan. The Persian style wootz blade and the silver decoration indicate an Afghan attribution. A similar dagger is included in the Moser collection, Bern, Switzerland also with Afghan attribution. Fine Wootz blade of good very delicate pattern. Heavy silver grip and scabbard very finely chiseled. An inscription with Arabic letters on the back of the scabbard. Blade length 7 ½ inches. Total 13 ½ inches. Very good condition. A fine rare item
