This Unusual and very rare item is coming from Central Zair and used by the MONGO people and more specifically by the NTOMBE tribe. It s unusual spoon shaped blade is 8 inches long, 5 inches wide, with a sharpened all around and extended with a heavy tang 4 inches long. The handle is hardwood bound with brass strips. Total length 17 ½ inches. Very good condition. Original blackening of the blade surface. Minor wood chips on the handle. The pommel side of the handle is marked with a catalog number from a previous collection. Very rare, early 20C. authentic item.
