Up for sale is this early, 18C. or earlier, good “PIHA KAHETTA” the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). It has a single edged short heavy blade, 8 inches long with a down curving tip. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with dark, shining age patina. Brass pommel cover. Original wood scabbard. Total length is 12 ˝ inches. Good condition. Very fine darek age patina on the ivory grips. Blackened spots and minor patches of pitted areas. Blade tip very lightly re shaped.
