The exact origin of this Jambiya / Khanjar dagger is questionable, however and in spite of its similarity to the Arabic Sabik dagger, we believe that it is coming from Afghanistan. The Persian style wootz blade and the silver decoration indicate an Afghan attribution. A similar dagger is included in the Moser collection, Bern, Switzerland also with Afghan attribution. Fine Wootz blade of good contrast pattern (unfortunately somewhat pitted). Wood grip with chased silver mounts and on the scabbard. Blade length 9 inches. Total 14 ½ inches. Very good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade.
