Fine Kattar Dagger with Wootz Blade, Rajasthan, India. - 10869

This fine kattar push dagger is early 19 C. It has a wide blade 9 ½ inches long, 2 ½ inches wide, finely forged from Wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. Side bars and cross bars of the handle are of clean lines with minimal but fine chiseling on the blade and cross bars. Original scabbard with original fabric cover and silver tip. Total length 19 inches. Very good condition. Minor forge flaws. Opened scabbard seam. The clean lines and minimal chiseling (but of good quality and workmanship) suggest a Rajasthan origin. |
