Fine Arab Style Indian Jambiya Dagger - 10861


This fine dagger is mid 19 C., South or Central India. It is made in the style of an Arab Jambiya dagger and sometimes referred to as Indo-Arab. It was probably made for a wealthy person from the Arab community in India or just made to be exported to and Arab buyer. The massive blade is 7 inches long 2 inches wide with a thick central rib. The handle is carved from a solid piece of Hippopotamus teeth (Characterized by the two sectors separated by a dotted line) set with gem stones in a gold setting. Fabric covered scabbard with a (later) steel tip with silver inlay) Very good condition.
