Very Fine 18 C. Ottoman Court Dagger - 10830


This fine wootz dagger is also known as Court Dagger. It was a side arm of the nobilities visiting the courts of the Ottoman empire in the 17 and 18 C. The blade is finely fullered 14 inches long, tapering to an acute tip, forged from good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The grips are elephant ivory with very finely chased grip strap and pommel cover. The scabbard is wood covered with black leather and mounted with very finely chased silver locket and chape. Very good condition. The silver parts are proof marked. Good age patina on the grips. Minor damage to the grip strap.
