This very fine Kattar dagger is Indian, late 18 to early 19 C. Finely chiseled wootz (Damascus) steel blade 9 ½ inches long, with slightly thickened tip. Handle side bars as well as the cross bars are finely decorated with gold koftgari work. Original scabbard covered with silk with original gilded steel tip. Total length 17 ½ inches. Very good condition. Wootz contrast low. Some losses to the gold work.
