Fine and Very Long 19 C. Moroccan Snaphaunce Lock Gun - 10777

Up for sale is this fine example of a Moroccan, early 19 C. rifle from the Sous valley in Morocco, also known locally as Afedali. 58 inches barrel of good quality and most probably of twisted steel, bound to the stock with engraved brass bands (few are later replacement). The barrel is marked with a deep make mark and densely engraved with Arabic inscriptions and magic numbers squares. Snaphauce lock in perfect working order, marked with maker name and decorated with silver panel. Hardwood stock inlaid with Mother of Pearl inscriptions in Arabic letters. Ivory butt end piece. Total length 70 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the Mother of pearl. Chipped ivory butt. |
