This Jambiya dagger is Yemenite, mid 20 C. from the Asir region in North West Yemen on the red sea shores. This whole silver style with rising silver tip is sometimes reffered to as Mecca style but new research defines it as Assib style. Very good and well forged blade (probably secondary use of an older blade) 7 inches long, 2 ½ inches wide, with a pronounced central rib. Finely chased whole silver handle with wide pommel. Whole silver scabbard with fine silver filigree decoration. Total length 12 ½ inches. Very good plus condition.
