Fine Pesh-Kabz Dagger, Persia / Central Asia - 10748

This dagger is a Pesh-Kabz , a member of the family of the Karud and a Khybar Knife, but with a re-curving blade. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. This one is Persian or Central Asia, early 19 C. The blade is 9 inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine. It is forged from very good Wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The grips are of elephant ivory, the grip strap and bolsters are steel with gold koftgari work. Total length 13 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. |
