This very fine sword is Balkan, most probably Greek origin, early-mid 19 C. The Shamshir style blade is single edged, wedge cross section, forged from very good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The whole mounting: Handle as well as scabbard are masterpiece of silver chasing. Blade 32 inches, total 38 inches. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots on the blade tip. One side of the cross guard is slightly bent. Very impressive sword.
