This very fine Yataghan is Balkan, sometimes referred to as Bosnian. Early blade, probably 18 C. with traces of gold koftgari work. Later, mid-late 19 C. re mounted in a classical Balkan shaped silver handle and bolsters, with fine filigree work set with corals. Wood scabbard with finely chased silver locket and chape, the locket set with big drop shaped corals and dark green stones. Blade 23 inches. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition.
