Very Fine Indian Khukuri Knife with Wootz Blade - 10708

This very fine Khukuri knife is Indian, probably North India, mid 19C. or about. It has a finely forged Wootz (watered, Damascus) steel blade very nicely fullered. The handle is ivory and the bolster is gold decorated steel. This Khukuri is accompanied with a small knife (Karda), also forged from Wootz steel and ivory handle and a Chakma with bone handle. Wood scabbard with fabric cover and gilded steel tip. Blade 8 inches, total 12 ½. Very good condition. The plain steel and bone handle on the Chakma suggests it is a later addition. Khukuries with Wootz steel blade are quite rare. |
