Fine Moroccan Koumaya Dagger - 10665

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is of a fine exemplar of good quality, with a finely forged 9 1/2 inches blade with shallow fullers (rare and comes on top quality Koumaya only). The hilt and the scabbard are of elaborately engraved and pierced thick silver on a brass background. Two big side loops on the scabbard. Very good condition. A rare and very attractive piece.
