Fine Persian Shamshir Sword with Wootz Blade - 10664


This is a classical Persian Shamshir sword, late 18 – early 19 C. Very fine curved blade of plain wedge cross section, forged from good high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel and signed with the maker mark inlaid in gold (true inlay). Steel cross guard finely chiseled with hunting scenes. Horn grips (later) with steel grip strap and pommel cap. Later (But old and authentic) wood scabbard with black leather cover and steel belt rings and brass tip. Blade 33 inches. Total 39 inches. Very good condition.
