Very Good Turkish / Arab Wootz Shamshir Sword - 10657

This sword is from the middle east, probably Syria or a neighboring country. It employ a Persian trade blade, wide heavy and fullered, 30 inches long, forged from good high contrast Wootz (Damascus, watered) steel and chiseled with the maker mark, the Persian lion stamp and a long inscription in Arabic letters. The handle is made in the Turkish sword style with horn grips, bulbous pommel and brass cross guard. Total length 35 ½ inches. Very good condition. This sword comes in its original scabbard which unfortunately went through many changes and repairs (Not shown). An impressive sword.
