The Beja daggers with the big X shaped handle, sometimes known as Hadendoa or Beni Amer comes from the West South shores of the red sea. This one is unusual big and fine example with a nicely forged 12 ˝ inches blade, big X shaped blackwood handle bound with silver wires and finely tooled leather sheath with chased silver mounts. Total length 18 inches compared to 11 -12 inches in the more common specimen. It is shown below next to one such “Normal” X dagger. Very good condition.
