Rare Sword of the Dutch East Company (V.O.C) Dated 1742 - 10536


The Dutch east company V.O.C ( Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie ) was very active in and around Indonesia in the 18 C. and on. They employed many Europeans, traders and warriors and supplied them with swords and other blades. Up for sale here is one example of such a sword. Straight double edged blade, 31 inches long dated to 1742 and marked with the sign of the Amsterdam chamber of the company (A above the V.O.C mark). Wood grip with fingers recesses and steel basket. . Total length 36 inches. Good condition to age. Heavily patinated blade with patches of pitted areas. Very rare sword
