This Jambiya (or Khanjar) dagger is Persian. The wootz quality and the chiseling quality are very fine and suggest somewhat earlir dating, early 19 or late 18 C. Blade 10 ½ inches with pronounced central rib and reinforced edges. The upper part of the blade is finely chiseled with animals and floral design in the early Qajar style. Also the whole steel handle (which might be wootz as well) is finely chiseled both with gold inlaid borders. Total length 15 inches. Very good plus condition. No scabbard.
