This fine Kattar dagger is Indian, late 18 to early 19 C. Finely chiseled wootz (Damascus) steel blade 8 ½ inches long, with slightly thickened tip. Handle side bars as well as the cross bars are also forged from wootz steel and finely decorated with gold koftgari work. Original scabbard (velvet replaced) with original steel tip. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. Wootz contrast low. Minor losses to the gold work.
