Rare and Fine Arab Knife / Dagger Shafra with Silver Handle - 10325

This rare small knife is called in Arabic as Shafra or Kusha. It is carried in attached to the rear side of the wide belt behind the Jambiya (Khanjar) dagger. It is found all over The Arabian peninsula id varying shapes. Here is a fine example: The blade is 6 inches long, down curving with a shallow fuller and simple dot punched decoration. The grip is chiseled and engraved silver with a fine silver chain. Total length 11 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. It should be noted here that several sources (Stone, Egerton and others) identify this type of knife as Nepali, probably due to the blade shape and curvature. . This Shafra comes from the collection of John Powell, SF, a world known collection of Nepalese and related weapons. It was added to this collection due to the very common misunderstanding mentioned above.
