This Dagger is Turkish early to mid 19 C., probably from East Turkey in the style used by the Kurdish people residing in this area. The blade is 12 1/2 inches long, forged from fine Persian wootz with clear high contrast pattern. Gold koftgari decoration on the blasé of the blade. Black horn handle. Wood scabbard with heavy silver mounts. Total length 20 inches. Very good condition. Minor blackening of the blade and minor losses to the gold koftgari work. The scabbard is later, employing original silver mounts.
