Up for sale is this fine Shamshir sword with a fine wootz (Damascus) blade, marked with gold inlay maker mark and dated to 151. This date refers to 1151 in the Islamic calendar (1738 in the Gregorian calendar). Bone grips and steel cross guard, grip strap and pommel cap with gold koftgari decoration. Blade length 32 ½, total 38 inches. Very good condition. The bone grips are later to the blade, probably 19 C. Losses to the gold koftgari work on the handle mounts. No scabbard. A fine blade.
