Early, 17C. Turkish Bazu Band (Hand Armor) with the St. Irene Armory Mark - 10248

This arm guard, also know as Bazu Band is Turkish, early 17 C. or earlier. Simple construction but very well made. 13 ½ inches long, faceted face marked with the mark of St. Irene armory from Istanbul. Mail constructed cover for the fingers all with riveted rings. Very good condition to age. Few holes and old repairs on the steel. The mail fingers cover is probably a later addition and may be cut from an old mail shirt.
