Moroccan Short Rifle - 6032


A late 19 Century Moroccan gun dated to 1299 (1881), with a short 17 inches barrel (probably fitted for a child use), beautifully chiseled on the top The gun is fitted with a European made, probably British flint lock. Heavy wood stock with Ivory butt. The wood all around is decorated with pierced silver pieces inlaid into the wood. Total Length 311/2 inches. Good condition. A Similar gun is shown in R. Elgood Firearms of the Islamic World page 71, Fig. 35. but with an older Snaphunce lock. A very good piece, properly priced and an attractive addition to any Islamic and/or firearm collection.
