Fine, 19 C Persian Scissors / Dagger - 10284

We offer for sale a very unusual item and although not really a weapon, it is usually displayed in the weapons section in private collections as well as in museums. It is a pair of scissors originally used to cut papers in the very well developed calligraphy art of the Persian courts. However its blades are shaped like a dagger and can be used as such if needed. The narrow blades are 7 inches long, hollow ground, with acute point and lavishly decorated on both sides with gold koftgary work. The handles gilded copper. This pair of scissors comes with a leather scabbard (probably later). Total length 10 inches. Very good plus condition.
