This is a rare and original 18 C. steel ingot from Rajhastan India, made of wootz and coming right out of the crucible ready to be traded and forged into a wootz blade. 3 inches in diameter, 2 ¾ inch high, in a ball shape with a recess on one side, and about 1450 Grams weight. A small area on the side was polished and etched to show the crystalline structure. A unique piece for the weapon collector, steel researcher or blade smith expert. Very Low Price.
It should be noted here that there are arguments saying these steel balls are actually mill balls and not wootz ingots. It is a valid argument, yet the symmetrical shape, the recess on one side (the upper side of the cake in the crucible) and the very clear pattern on the polished area all support the possibility that this is indeed a wootz ingot.
