This style of yataghan with wide T shaped pommel ears are believed to come from central Turkey. This one has a blade of 24 1/2 inches long, engraved with Arabic inscription inside a styled sword image and a maker mark on the other face. Grip bound with twisted silver wire and a 5 inches wide pommel from chased silver. Steel bolsters forged in one piece with the blade covered with pewter. Finely chased low silver scabbard with silver chains and short tassel. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition.
