Very Good and Large Silver Mounted Jambiya Dagger from the Hijaz - 10174

This type of long Jambiya dagger is common in the Western regions of Arabia, Hijaz and Asir. Sometimes it is referred to by collectors as Wahabite style. The one offered here is of rather large dimensions. The blade is plain, 20 inches long, 3 inches wide (compared to 14 – 16 inches more common blades). The handle is made of two rhino horn grips richly decorated with filigree silver mounts. The scabbard is brass, with big white metal locket and silver chape, also richly decorated with filigree work and set with red colored stone (glass ??). Total length 26 inches. This dagger comes with parts of its original leather belt. Very good condition. |
