Fine Early Qama Dagger with Green Ivory Grip - 10124

Up for sale is this rare and fine Qama dagger, most probably Georgian, mid to late 19 C. Well forged fine blade with off centered fullers, 17 inches long 2 inches wide, decorated with fine gold koftgari decoration. There are also three figures (or letters) engraved on the blade. Walrus ivory front grip dyed green and black horn rear grip. Dome shaped steel rivets and rosettes plates with gold koftgari decoration and also similar decoration on the tang edges. Leather covered scabbard with gold decorated steel band for belt attachment and a brass tip. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. The walrus grip was cracked (as commonly happen to dyed grips) and repaired. The leather cover of the scabbard and the brass tip are later. |
