This type of kard knife is coming probably from North Afghanistan and some times refer to as Tribal Kard. The one we offer for sale is a fine and complete example of such kard with a fine wootz (Damascus, watered) blade of high contrast clear pattern. Blade length 8 1/2 inches. The grip is of cylindrical form, composed of alternating sectors of walrus ivory and black horn decorated with metal nails and inserts. Original leather on wood scabbard covered with the original green fabric and ivory tip. Total length 14 1/2 inches. Very good condition. A fine and rare exemplar.
