The swords and daggers of the Baule tribe were very rare and sought after by collectors of African weapon / tribal arts. The Baule people reside in Ivory Coast and Neighboring Ghana and known to be masters of wood work and wood engraving. We offer here for sale a classical small dagger of the Baule. The blade is leaf shaped, 5 1/2 inches long. The handle is carved hardwood. The scabbard is wood, covered with hide and set with red painted shell, which were added only to weapons of highly prestigious owners. Total length 12 inches. Very good condition. Heavily patinated blade.
