This double blade dagger, also known as Haladie is coming from Sudan, early 20 C. Actually it is a copy of the Haladie coming from Syria in the middle east. Two curved blades, 11 1/2 inches each connected oppositely to a central bone grips and entirely etched with Arabic inscriptions from the Koran. Scabbards are wood covered with crocodile hide. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. One of the scabbard seam is partially open. This type of dagger was supposedly used by Sudanese dervishes, extremely fanatic group of believers who claimed the Sufi degree of the Islam. |
