Very Rare Pair of Indian Knee Cap Armor, 18 C. - 10037


This pair (almost identical) of Knee Cap armor also known as Chapni is North Indian, Moghul, late 18 C. It was worn on the leg armor to protect the knee. Shaped like a miniature helmet 5 1/2 inches in diameter etched with four panels of seating figures with traces of gold inlay framing. Each cap has two steel buckles on the sides to fasten it to the leg armor. Each knee cap is ending with a spike 3 and 3 1/2 inches long. Traces of silver inlay on the spikes basis. Very good condition. Losses to the gold and silver decoration. One buckle is missing.
