Up for sale is this heavy Kattar push dagger. North India, may be Rajasthan, mid to late 18 C. The heavy blade is 9 inches long, 3 inches wide, with a thickened tip for armor piercing and it is forged from high quality wootz (Damascus, watered) steel of high contrast pattern. The blade is finely chiseled and fullered, and as common to similar Kattars only the fullered area is etched to reveal the wootz pattern. The edges are left highly polished. Total length 16 1/2 inches. Handle 3 1/2 inches wide and will fit also a big palm. Very good condition. Blackened spots and minor pitted areas near the tip.
