This sword is a Tegha, supposedly used for execution. Broad blade 23 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide with a 9 inches back edge. The blade is forged from laminated steel and marked with a crescent mark forge welded into the blade. Large tulwar style handle, richly decorated with gold and silver inlay work on its entire surfaces. A long Arabic inscription on the pommel perimeter. Total length 26 inches. Very good condition.
The inscription on the pommel reads (in free translation) : 'Call upon 'Ali who causes wonders You will find him helpful in misfortune All anguish, all sorrows will disappear Through your Prophethood, O Muhammad! Through your Friendship [with God] Oh 'Ali Oh 'Ali There is no youth [as brave as] 'Ali No sword [as sharp as] dhu'l-faqar'
