This heavy saber employs a Persian made blade, late 18 C, 35 1/2 inches long of very fine high contrast, highly polished wootz pattern, with chiseled inscription in Arabic letters and maker marks. Very fine gold inlay decoration. This blade was probably made for the Turkish market. The bone grip and cross guard were added in the early 19 C. Total length 40 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard.
