We offer for sale this very good Turkish Shamshir sword, with a blade forged from Sham steel (Turkish / Syrian wootz) of low contrast pattern, 32 inches long. The grips are rhino horn. Grip strap cross guard and scabbard mounts are engraved and chased silver. Original leather covered scabbard with its original classical spiral stitching. Total length 39 inches. Very good condition. All silver parts are clearly proof marked with the Tughra (The emblem of the Sultan in the thrown). Spots of shallow pitting on the blade. The silver strip covering the opening in the locket is missing. Minor losses to the leather cover of the scabbard.
