This very fine piece is also known as Tabarzine, or saddle axe. The heavy blade is 3 inches wide, 5 1/2 inches tall, forged from very fine high contrast wootz steel. The 25 inches long handle is covered with finely chased silver. The blade is very richly decorated with gold koftgari work. Very good condition. A fine 18C. Moghul (?) item from North India
