Very Good Omani Jambiya Dagger with Unusual Blade - 9880


A very good Arab Jambiya dagger, early 20 C., from Oman. It has 7 1/2 inches curved and dual edge blade. The pronounced central rib is actually welded strips of steel, nicely made. The hilt is hardwood covered with many silver nails in a decorative pattern on the front panel and mounted with chased silver collar. The scabbard is “L” shaped covered with leather elaborately embroidered with silver strips and wires, and mounted with chase silver locket en suite with the hilt mounts. The belt attachment is made of complicate arrangements of silver rings and twisted silver wire. Total length is 12 1/2 inches. An original compartment for an additional knife on the back of the scabbard. Very good condition.
