Very Good Laz Bichaq Yataghan Sword from the Black Sea - 9857


The origin of this unusual and rare sword was in a fierce debates between collectors and researchers of blade weapons. It was attributed to the Caucasus, Kurdistan, North Africa, Turkey, Malaya as well as other origins. However, most probably it is coming from North / East Turkey and found in Caucasian areas as well. It is best known as Black Sea Yataghan or Laz Bichaq. It is characterized by the deeply re-curving blade and bifurcated pommel. This one has a 22 inches blade decorated with brass strips inlay. The pommel spikes are horn. Wood scabbard covered with leather. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. The grip binding and leather collar are missing. Part of the scabbard leather cover is replaced. A very rare sword.
